From the 30 runners, nine made it to the final table and were guaranteed
a minimum prize of $20 credited to their King Solomons Poker account.
First to leave was Jerome Elroy. With 35,000 chips, he pushed all-in with A-9 suited
only to run into two callers – both with A-K. Mayur Patel was next to go,
shortly before a 3-way clash sent two more tumbling.
Ayshe Hakki pushed-in with Q-Q and found herself in front against Peter Charman with A-J and Billy Young on J-J.
An ace on the flop put Peter in front until a Jack on the river brought Billy
his set and a whole pile of chips to propel him towards the final showdown.
Chris Hamer went next, taking the £70 5 th prize, followed by Tim Stevens in 4 th for £140
Then came the turn of Rick Gladin on whose head Tony Hakki had earlier placed a £50 bounty.
On their backs, Rick had A-5 versus Tim Speer’s A-7.
The flop and the turn were of no help to either and the 7 on the river sealed it for Tim.
So, down to the final pair. Heads-up and short-stacked, Billy was in a hurry, going all-in blind.
Tim called and then frowned, as Billy turned over bullets
– a third Ace on the flop made an incredible set and bought Billy some time.
The play grew more intense, before Billy and Tim eventually decided to carve-up £800
of the prize money and then play-on for the remaining £183
and the $100 put up by KS.
Suddenly, Billy was in a rush again against his more thoughtful opponent
and after a ragged flop went all-in with AK. After due consideration,
Tim called with 4-6. With a 4 on the flop and 6 on the river, his 2-pair put an end to it.
