120 Runners turned-up from far and wide for the £300 Freezeout making a prize pool of £36,000 with another £5,000 added by Betfair Poker to bring it up to a hefty £41,000. |

On the morning of the event, the 40-or-so remaining unsold tickets, (others having been won or bought during the past weeks), suddenly melted away in a matter of minutes as the phones began ringing, leading to disappointment for a number late-comers who'd hoped to pick one up on the day. |

As expected, the club was full and buzzing with anticipation when tournament director Tony Hakki called for order and chimed the time-honoured phrase 'Shuffle-up and deal'. |

Within minutes we had our first casualty and a couple of bad-beat stories by way of explanation. Then the grind began and it wasn't until another hour had passed that the steady trickle of fallers began. |

Overnight leaders were Ray Miller and Andrew Murphy both on 136,000 chips, with Angelo on 118,000 and Mick Cook on 112,000. |

Early on, there was a rush of casualties as the low-staked players made their moves now the blinds bit hard. With 10 players left and just 9 places on the final table, Ray Miller sitting in the big blind and looking very well placed to make it through called an all-in from John Burberry only to find his Jacks up against Kings. John's Kings held up and Ray's impressive pile was decimated. Shortly afterwards, he had gone out and we had our nine. |

First to go from the final table was Mick Cook who picked-up £1,025. |

After some tense hours of the play, which saw Martin Roll considerably improve upon his position as Mr Short-Stack, the last 8 decided upon a carve-up guaranteeing each a minimum pay-out of £3,000. |

Next to go were Jack Neophytou and Luke Conlan both winning £3,000. They were followed by surprise package of the tournament Albert (newly nicknamed 'Denmark') Chandra who made it into 6th place for £3,000. Having surpassed all expectations by reaching so far, we watched as Albert's once mighty stack of chips was steadily grazed upon by the others around him. |

With just 4 runners left, another carve-up split the remaining prize money into £6,000 each for the first three and £4,500 for fourth placed Martin Roll. |

Other regulars who distinguished themselves were, Casper, John Caton, Angelo, Mary Anne Skyers and Colin Davis who all won £500. Pavan Nayyar, out on the bubble, got his money back. |
