When we first showed units 9A, 10 and 11, Royal Oak Centre, Purley to our friends and told them that we intended to make them our home and start the best private members club in the South of England, we warned them that they’d need a good imagination. The place was just a dark shell of a building. To call it dilapidated would be to praise it too highly. ‘But it does have a big car park,’ we told them, ‘on the roof!’

A few months later, the building was transformed into the Big Slick Private Members Club. The owners agreed to making some space for us and we had no hesitation in moving-in, setting-up the tables and stacking the chips.

Opening hours? 7 nights a week, with refreshments always available. We have a great menu of delicious food to suite all tastes. As you’d expect, there’s lots of tournament play, plenty of action to be had on the many internet terminals and the best of the sporting entertainment from Sky Sports and Setanta to be seen on big plasma screens. Dress code? Relaxed – well, if your mother let you out of the house looking like that, then who are we to complain – just remember to bring your membership card.

Big Slick is a members-only club and there is a 48hr waiting time between applying for membership and becoming a full member, so get signed-up as soon as you can. The quickest way is to do it online, or you can apply when you first visit the club – please don’t forget to bring your passport or a 2-part driving licence - then come on in, get your mug-shot taken and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and great live action at the best game in town.
